"German electronic
legends Kraftwerk did not make Sunday's scheduled slot after "accepting
the recommendation" of the Milarepa Fund, according to Meade. Citing
concerns about the amount of time it would take to set up their
intricate electronic equipment, the band bowed out of the show. "

This is a copy of the press release sent by Kraftwerk to all publicists,
industry people, and production involved with the Tibetian Freedom Concert:
(obviously they did not announce this)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Kraftwerk have accepted the recommendation of the Milarepa Foundation and
will not be performing on Sunday, June 14th. We were advised that due to the
cancellation of the majority of the show on the 13th, the shortened
change over times, and the additional bands that will now be playing
Sunday, that our performance would be logistically impossible.

Kraftwerk are obviously very disappointed, but in the spirit and
cooperation of the event accept the decision.

We would like to apologize to our fans for this situation, but hope they
understand that these circumstances are beyond our control.

We wish the event every success and look forward to returning to the United
States in the near future.
